Labor Day weekend brought all kinds of people out to enjoy Kohler-Andrae State Park in Sheboygan, WI. More than 50 of them attended a pudgy pie and Dutch oven cooking demonstration sponsored by the Friends of Kohler-Andrae State Park.
The Pudgy Pie Guy got everyone making their own pudgy pies of pizzas, mac and cheese, Rubens, even key lime pie pudgy pies.
Mary and Joe talked about cooking in the Dutch oven and had an Italian sausage casserole baking for everyone to try.
Attendees learned about the different materials pie irons are made of like cast iron or stamped or die-cast aluminum. We also discussed different features like teflon coated or hinged clamshells.
On display to compare were a variety of models from several manufacturers including Camp Chef, C. Palmer Die Casting Inc. and Toas-Tite. Many models from the extensive line of Rome Pie Irons also were available to check out along with the Pudgy Pie Guy's collection of vintage sandwich toasters.
We also had a number of cookbooks to check out including the newest pudgy pie cookbook Pudgie Revolution.
Two lucky attendees won a drawing to take their very own Toas-Tite sandwich toaster back to their campsite.
